物理工学科は、学生の数が多いこともあり、わりかし自由に自分のやりたいことをやる準備はされているため、便利。 縦のつながりも強く、推薦もあるため、就職についてもそこまで障害があることは少ないと思われる。 サポートもしっかりしている。 駅から歩ける距離にあるのと、ちかくに河原町があるため、遊ぶこともできる。 施設自体は年季を感じる部分も多いが、設備自体は最先端であるため、満足。 サークルについては数えられないほどあるため、自分に合ったサークルは見つかる。 物理について学ぶことができる。 幅広い分野の中から、自分に合った内容を学べる。 コースが充実しているため、万全。 物理が好きで、大学でも物理を学びたかったことと、京都というオモチロイ街で大学生活を送ってみたかったため。

京都大学工学部は、2026年度より電気電子工学科が130名から142名、情報学科が90名から98名へ、あわせて20名の定員増を文部科学省に申請している（意見伺い）。 この定員増は、大学・高専機能強化支援事業（高度情報専門人材の確保に向けた機能強化に係る支援）によるものとなっている。 2025年度入試では、同事業により筑波大学18名増、横浜国立大学23名増、名古屋大学34名増、大阪大学60名増、神戸大学43名増などあわせて340名の入学定員が国立大学で純増した。 いずれも成長分野である「情報系」に係る学部学科となっている。
